A third version of the video was produced for the single's official music video. It is called "Take it Off (Kesha's Friends Finally)" and was directed by Pharell.[35] Kesha explained the purpose and inspiration behind it in an interview with MTV News, stating, "my friends and I were just bored and wanted to make a video for our song, so we started making one and we just had so much fun".[35]
On April 16, 2011, Kesha released the music video for "Take It Off" on her official website. It was uploaded to the singer's YouTube account, where it was later removed after she found out the video received too many "spams" by the YouTube Death Squad. Kesha was reportedly relieved to know that the video's removal was an honest mistake and not due to her copyright infringement.[39] She, along with her friends, performed a dance routine when the video was released. On May 7, 2013, Kesha posted a picture of the set where the video was filmed to her Twitter account. She noted that she was home sick and away from the city. Someone, however, threatened to break the set or injure her when she was filming. Police arrived in response to the threat. Kesha noted, "me and my friends were filming outer space, aliens and vampires in a hotel building. When the police showed up I screamed. So glad I could get to meet you all".[42]
In the summer of 2013, Kesha released her third album, Blush.
